Build a HEalthier Home with the foreverbreathe specificatioN
Now being introduced to the Australian market by McCormack’s Australia in collaboration with Health Based Building.
The Foreverbreathe Specification is a high-performance building system designed to support exceptional indoor air quality, energy efficiency, and long-term comfort.
The Foreverbreathe Specification is a carefully designed combination of high-performance materials that work together to naturally reduce indoor humidity, manage air tightness, and improve thermal performance.
Rather than depending on whole-of-home mechanical ventilation, the system works with natural daily temperature and humidity cycles to maintain a comfortable, healthy indoor environment.
Mechanical ventilation is limited to wet areas such as bathrooms, kitchens, and laundries, reducing energy use while still supporting a high-performing home.
How it Works
ForeverBreathe homes are designed to work with natural daily temperature and humidity cycles, rather than fighting against them.
By limiting mechanical ventilation to wet areas such as bathrooms, kitchens, and laundries, the ForeverBreathe Specification reduces overall energy demand while maintaining a comfortable, healthy indoor environment. This approach lowers heating and cooling loads, improves thermal performance, and creates spaces that feel better to live in year-round.
At the core of the system is a natural moisture-balancing cycle:
Day-time cycle
As temperatures rise during the day, relative humidity decreases. The stored moisture is gradually released from the wool fibre, absorbing energy and assisting in regulating internal temperatures.
This continuous, passive cycle helps manage indoor humidity and temperature naturally, reducing reliance on mechanical systems and improving overall comfort.
Night-time cycle
As air temperatures drop overnight, relative humidity increases. Moisture is gently absorbed into the wool fibre within the building envelope, releasing stored energy and helping stabilise indoor conditions.
the difference between ForeverBreathe Homes & Certified Passive Houses in Australia
The Foreverbreathe Specification takes a different approach. Instead of sealing the building envelope completely, it uses breathable, vapour-permeable materials that allow the building to naturally regulate moisture and humidity.
Award Winning Foreverbreathe Homes
-

With a strong focus on energy efficiency, natural humidity control, and indoor air quality, this Homestar 8 rated build showcases how high-performance design can enhance everyday family life.
Performance Benefits
Every component within the Foreverbreathe Specification is carefully selected to eliminate hazardous chemicals and prioritise sustainability, durability, and long-term performance. The result is a healthier indoor environment and a genuinely sustainable building system designed for modern living.
-
Sustainable materials used within the specification establish airtightness and energy reductions, without the use of high volumes of plastics, polystyrene, or harmful chemicals, which harm the environment and the air we breathe.
-
A clever combination of materials enables the absorption of moisture into wool insulation to ignite a completely natural exothermic reaction within the wool which releases energy in the form of FREE heat. Wool fibre’s ability to absorb and release moisture without derogation is well documented. Learn more - Moisture regulation wool fibre insulation verse glass fibre.
-
True to aims of sustainability, the Foreverbreathe Specification fulfils the needs of current generations, without compromising the needs of generations to come. Materials used have been carefully selected with consideration to their long-term impact, to ensure positive outcomes for the environment, human health, and social well-being.
-
A clever combination of vapour permeable building components work in harmony to provide air-tightness, control humidity, and remove moisture from the indoor space.
-
As the Foreverbreathe Specification manages air-tightness and moisture so well, it provides an exceptionally comfortable environment that is easy to heat & cool.

A different approach to healthy home building
What makes the Foreverbreathe Specification so effective is the Foreverbreathe Wall System and the exothermic performance it provides.
This hygroscopic system allows moisture created within the home to be absorbed into wool insulation. Through a natural exothermic reaction within the wool, this moisture is vapourised, releasing energy in the form of heat.
This process happens continuously, 24 hours a day, without relying on costly whole-home mechanical ventilation systems.
The result is a home that feels healthier, more comfortable, and more energy efficient.
Want to find out more about building a ForeverBreathe Home?
McCormack’s Australia, in collaboration with Health Based Building, is introducing the Foreverbreathe Specification to Australia in 2026.
With Magnum Board already established across Australia and New Zealand, McCormack’s will support the rollout nationwide through education, specification support, and access to proven materials.
The first Foreverbreathe home is already under construction in New South Wales.
